procrastination
Joel Teo asked:

Being successful in life is everyone’s goal. But most of us fail to avail the golden chances and opportunities, life presents us. The major reason behind this is we become victims of procrastination. Procrastination is a synonym for laziness. We get so lazy sometimes that we think that we have a long time to accomplish the task, knowing the task can take more time we assumed. Then we tend to do work in last moments and most of people fail to hold their patience and get tensed to that extent that they make situations worse or do the things in a wrong or ineffective manner. After that we mourn over our procrastination but now nothing can be restored. Thus, to emerge successful one needs to get rid of procrastination and this than be done in following manner:

First of all if you feel you are victim of procrastination you need to get organized. Get organized from today. The best way to start is with your room. Organize your room, your time, your life and your things. The sense of organization will bring stability in you and you will tend to stay organized, thus every time you see anything out of order, you will place it in a proper place. Slowly with passage of time you will imbibe a order in you, helping you to overcome your procrastination.

The next thing is to make a routine. Take your monthly planner with you and write down your short term as well as long term goals and also jot down ways to accomplish these tasks. Make a habit of doing the things as mentioned in your routine and make sure to mention even minor things like ironing of clothes in your routine. Though initially, you will find it hard to follow the routine but once if you started sticking to it, you will dwell the habit of doing things at specified period of time. This will help you in accomplishing your goals in a timely manner and thus you get rid of habit of not doing work on time. Drawing your future plans holds another advantage too. Earlier you had no work to do and could sit idle for hours but if you know what you need to do before hand, a pressure will always be there on you to do the things in timely manner, otherwise your other work will hamper.

Along with planning, managing your time in a productive manner always help you get rid of procrastination. You need to finish the tasks in the allotted time period and this organizes your lifestyle. Moreover, if you start managing your time well you will be always left with plenty of time at the end of day allowing you to carry other activities which was not feasible earlier due to your procrastination.

The most important aspect to get rid of your procrastination is to build just do it attitude. Always think it’s now or never whenever you feel like skipping the work or task that needs to be accomplished and you will always get rid of procrastination.

procrastination
Jim Somchai asked:

Do you have problem with procrastination? A lot of people do. Procrastination causes us the delay in our achievement and a lot of time failure. We therefore should find some way to overcome it. This article will show you how to overcome procrastination with some simple techniques.

1. Think on paper.

One of the major mistakes that most people have when it comes to having the job done is that they just work in their mind. Without the written plan. You tend to have vague idea what to do. As a result, you tend to procrastinate what you are not so sure about the step. Practice yourself the prepare and plan thoroughly. Break down the job to be done clearly so that you can see the total picture.

2. Gather all necessary materials in front of you when you start to do the job so that you don’t have to leave the place until it finished.

Once you have everything in front of you, you tend to be able to stay focus without being deviated from the tasks. A lot of people are upset for not finding needed materials and they have to go and look for it. You can get sidetracked if you leave what you are doing. In addition, to have everything ready will give you a peace of mind until you finish the task.

3. Do one small thing to get start.

Do the tiny task first to warm up your mind. Once you finish the first piece of task, you will have a sense of gratification. You would like to do more and a little bit further. This is how we start the momentum.

4. Do the fear and anxiety first. Fear of failure.

Most people have the fear of failure for the task they aim for doing. As a result, they dare not to start doing anything because the scary part of the task is so daunting. In this case, you have to start with the part that you fear most in order to eliminate what makes you fear inside. When you are capable to get rid of it, you will be able to take care of other tasks more easily.

5. Start the day with most unpleasant task first.

The most difficult task is the hurdle for you to come across. If you can do and finish the most difficult tasks at the beginning, the rest of the task will be a piece of cake. The chance that you finish the task without any procrastination will be very high.

6. Think of negative consequences that will happen if the job is not done.

What do you think will happen to you if what you aim for fall apart. Do you dare to face other people including your love ones if you can not discipline yourself enough to get what you want? Do you really want your goals? Thinking of how you can not achieve your goals will move you toward taking action and then you will not dare to procrastinate.

7. Think of how you are going to benefit from the result of job being done.

This is an opposite to number six. Think of all the reward you will be having when you achieve your goals. What will you feel and what others will view you. How excellent it is going to be if you can achieve all your goals? When you think about it, you will have enormous power to drive you to things immediately.

8. Set aside fifteen minutes time block for the project.

If you always procrastinate, try to allocate time block of fifteen minutes to do just this project without any intervention. If you can do fifteen minutes, you can find later that you want to do more than that and so on. When you do this regularly, you will notice that you start to progress in the project. Later , you would want to allocate more and more time to it. Before you know, the project can be completed.

9. Do not worry about doing the job perfectly.

Start doing thing without much worry on the outcome at the begging. If we can do it perfectly in the first attempt, we may need to reconsider if the project is really worthwhile doing. Just start doing something is already a good beginning of any project.

10. Develop the compulsion force. Refuse to leave the scene without finishing it.

You will need to force yourself into doing it. Taking action is the major theme of every success. If you do not feel compelled on what you do, the chance that you can be successful will be very slim.

11. Maintain fast tempo.

Move fast. Take actions fast. Make it your habit to work quickly and effectively. If it becomes your habit to move fast, you will tend not to procrastinate everything that comes to your life. You will tend to start taking action now.

12. Visualize that you can finish your task on time.

Visualization is one of the technique you can use to communicate with your subconscious mind. It will attract all circumstances necessary for your achievement of task according to the law of attraction. This is how the law of attraction comes in the way to eliminate your procrastination. You may add some background audio to accelerate your attraction. Attraction Accelerator can be one of your choices.

Procrastination is the major area where most people have problem on. This article talks about eleven techniques to overcome procrastination.

procrastination
Jim Somchai asked:

Procrastination is one of the problem areas in life that most people want to improve. It does not only prevent to achieving what you want, but it also give you the bad habit which can sabotage any of your mission. In order to be effective in life, we need to learn how to deal with procrastination. In this article, we will talk about psychological moves to deter procrastination by partly using the law of attraction.

Brian Tracy, a leader in personal development field, says in his work “Time Management”. Brian classifies psychological ways to prepare your mind to the task. These psychological approaches will reduce or even eliminate procrastination. There are seven psychological moves including:

1. Set worthwhile goals

When you have goals that is meaningful to you, your commitment to the achievement will be significantly higher. Having a written goal with the deadline shown in front of your working desk is one of the classic way to move you toward your goals and eliminate procrastination. This will work very well especially when your goal is very worthwhile and reward for achieving it is so big for you.

2. Continually visualize the task as completed

Visualize that you have completed the task on time without any problem. Visualization is how we communicate with our subconscious mind and make the mind attract what we want into our life. According to the law of attraction, the subconscious mind has the power to work like a magnet to attract circumstances or attributes that are favorable to your goal achievement. You will find that your path to your goals is smoother and faster. You may want to add some background audio into your visualization process. This will help accelerating your attraction.

3. Make positive affirmation.

Do it now. Write this sentence down and place in front of you. Some companies have their employees shout out loud this slogan every morning to make them focus on action and the importance of present moment. It works very well. For personal approach, it will work for every body who make this affirmation regularly. “Do it now! Do it now!”. You can affirm this into your mind with intensity. Once it registers into your mind, your chance of procrastination will drastically reduce.

4. Set a deadline on all important tasks.

One major mistakes that most people have is that they do not really know when to finish the project. This is a pitfall that hinder our accomplishment. We need to set us the deadline so that we can make plan to work on against the deadline. When we know what to do in the specific time, we will have the tendency to work on it instead of procrastinating because we know that the project will not finish on time if we do not do as we plan.

5. Refuse to rationalize or give excuses to not doing it.

It is interesting that a lot of people have multiple ways to give themselves the reason to not doing what they need to do now. They easily postpone the activity by giving many sound reasons. You will need to know how to refuse to accept those rationalizations. We have to learn that all those reasons happens just to make you delay in the project and this is not good for us. Once you refuse to accept the reasons or excuses, you will be able to move forward.

6. Create a reward system. Condition yourself to expectation of the good result.

Give yourself a pad on the back or go out for a walk if you finish one task. Buy yourself a gift or do something meaningful every time you finish one step of your task. The good reward system gives you the sense of self-respect and it will drive you toward your goals.

7. Accept responsibility on completing the tasks on time.

A lot of people procrastinate because they know that when things go wrong or when the tasks can be not finished, they can blame on others or circumstances. This is what most people do. But when we accept one hundred per cent of responsibility into your life, you will not procrastinate anymore since you know that they will be no one to blame accept yourself.

Everyone knows that procrastination is one of the major problem areas that people have. This article talks about seven psychological moves to eliminate procrastination by partly using the law of attraction.

procrastination
Abhishek Agarwal asked:

Mark Twain can say something about almost any topic you can think off. When asked about the subject of avoiding procrastination, he replied, “Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.” The humor in his statement can be relished by all. But at the same time, the inlaid procrastination’s danger is quite painfully true

The initial step to a more fulfilling life is to take up defeating procrastination more seriously. The war takes place at you mind, so you lose or win only there. To defeat procrastination, you should have a change in attitude. When you approach a job with the positive side to see, your chance at completion is better, this is the secret of success to many people.

- You have a choice in attitude. Many people postpone jobs mainly due to their thinking that they will be more successful by waiting for the best circumstance to show itself before starting a project. In the path of success, you should make decisions and do something whatever the circumstance of it may be.

- The attitude defines the productivity of you work. The natural abilities or high IQ is hardly of any matter in the path of successful people. People who are always successful in whatever they do have the positive attitude- believes that you can successfully complete the job.

- Nothing can be done about the past, so leave it behind. Analyzing how you could have a different response to a problem of past is an important preparation inn problem solving of today. Chalk up your experience and then leave it behind.

The following question will assist you in identifying areas to start working on. Say “yes” to what shows you.

1. I need not wait for the best circumstance to start a task, getting it perfect is almost impossible.

2. If given best effort, any project I take will give success.

3. I don’t blame failure on my surrounding factor; I analyze myself of what can be done differently, to get the different end.

4. I will not think about decisions once it is made, I will concentrate on what I am doing currently.

5. I should when to end a project- spending more time is only an excuse to postpone the start of next job.

If “no” has been an answer for any of the statements, get started today on the corrective action. Do something upon it one by one. Keep working on it till you can really answer is a “yes” to that statement before you proceed to the next statement. . “Be not the slave of your own past,” said Ralph Waldo Emerson. Free yourself from the procrastination chain and start a richer life.

procrastination
Abhishek Agarwal asked:

According to Benjamin Franklin, an expert in conquering procrastination himself, “by failing to prepare you are preparing to fail.” What is the way to plan your work? In case you do not plan, how can you realize if you’re achieving your goals? This is the time to figure it out.

At work, list out everything you’ve been postponing. That is, the big things as well as the small things. Similarly at home, list out all the large as well as small tasks you’ve been postponing so far. In case you aren’t able to think of anything immediately, walk around your house. And walk through your yard. It isn’t going to be hard for you to fill up a page with all the projects that you’ve only talked about.

Also list out the things you’ve been postponing that are concerned with your personal relationships. This should include emails, phone calls, letters, vacations, visits and family trips. Then list out everything you’ve been postponing doing for yourself-starting an exercise program, eliminating a bad habit or joining a class you wanted to take up.

Don’t worry about prioritizing. Just let your juices flow and put down everything you can think off on paper. Though it’s difficult to get started, ideas will start pouring easily once you start. As you keep writing, it will amaze you how one idea triggers the next. You will see words flowing onto your computer screen or paper.

The purpose of this exercise is pretty simple. First thing is, you have probably been postponing a lot more than you would’ve imagined. That’s the initial step you must take to defeat procrastination-recognize it as a setback. Procrastinators often have ridiculous excuses for being unable to take action. So the first step to overcome procrastination is to accept that it’s a major problem.

Second, I hope that this exercise would have taught you how important it is to get started. Failing to take action makes you doubt yourself which gnaws your self-confidence, increasing your indecision. The end result is paralysis-the dangerous circle of inactivity continues. Once you recognize the threat that procrastination poses, next you should focus on the things that you have been putting off. Take one of the things that you’ve been postponing and act on it. You started with one thing on your list; it will lead to another. Acting on one thing will trigger you to act on another.

Question yourself on the amount of time you waste every day. Keep track of the different ways you spend time. How can you plan and work so that you van easily meet your deadlines? Don’t forget to ask yourself if you need to do the work at all. Research findings have shown that we spend around 80% of our time doing things that do not help us to succeed in the projects we take up-many people take up a lot of unnecessary work which can be justifiably postponed. All successful people believe that: If you’re failing to plan, you’re planning to fail.
